I was asked an interesting question by one of by friends recently, If I am a vegetarian, do I need to worry about heart disease? The answer is yes. Although vegetarian and vegan diets include vegetables, these vegetables are usually not raw and usually only make up a small percent of the person's entire diet.
Cakes, Pasta, Potato Chips and other junk foods are all vegetarian and are regularly consumed by many, including me. These foods, as I have stated in my past couple articles, cause heart disease and can lead to a heart attack. It is important to cut out these foods as much as possible and focus on eating more RAW vegetables.
Most Vegetarians, Vegans and Meat Eaters all rarely consume fresh raw vegetables. Usually they come in fried, sautéed or curry form. These cooking techniques take away some nutrition value of the veggies and add on unnecessary cholesterol which is unhealthy for your body. burning tender vegetables on skillets, utensils for long period of time take away most of their nutrients, we do at our home too but slowly changing. It is said that habits are formed in approx. 20-25 days, so try eating raw veggies for this short period of time so that you can build this habit.
Although raw vegetables do not taste the best, consuming them can be made easier through smoothies, veggie pasta or a salad. I have already shared a healthy green smoothie recipe that can give you a burst of energy while fulfilling your nutritious needs. I also shared a spiralizer that allows you to replace carbs with raw vegetables.
