Many South Asians suffer from diabetes and heart disease because they consume too many carbohydrates in their diets. The main stealer of these fats and carbs is roti. A roti or chapatti is a flatbread ( a type of a naan) that is eaten in almost every meal for many Indian and South Asian families. When they are made purely out of white or a little whole wheat flour, they are terribly unhealthy and ensure the increase of triglycerides which will also increase the chances of diabetes and heart disease. The following video may help you understand. What we eat, even as a teen will effect us in the future as what we are doing now is building up the foundation for success or failure in terms of health.

Whole-wheat is being sold as if it solves all our problems. However, I believe this is only better compared to white bread.

A solution to this issue can be to mix different sources of flour like chickpea , soya bean powder or sunflower/pumpkin seeds etc in Roti/bread. During our discussion at home this morning, I am told hat at our home in India or Canada whenever we made Roti 50% of the flour was whole wheat and rest was a combination of stuff. I am sure people who make them at home can develop such habits and be healthy.

My family does not like to make your own roti's at home. Get Fit Roti seems like a very healthy option for us. One thing to note about this website is that they have not mentioned the ingredients and nutritional facts of this roti. It seems strange! I will check this out and update next week.

Get Fit Roti is a company that is bringing the old traditional way of mixing different flours to make roti, and making it convenient for us.
